Fresh off the announcement of their
Sawatzky comes to Tucson by way of Seattle, having spent the past 10 past years in roles within the Seattle Sounders organization. Most recently, the MLS and USL veteran held the title of General Manager for the Sounders U-23 (PDL/USL League 2) and Sounders Women (WPSL) squads as well as the head coach of the Tacoma Star, an indoor team in the Major Arena Soccer League. Before that, Sawatzky was the Director of Youth Development for the Sounders Academy, overseeing all aspects of player and coaching training. Sawatzky also has international coaching experience, serving as interim head coach of the Guam National Team from 2016-2017.
Sawatzky’s coaching career comes after spending 10 years as a player including stints with the New England Revolution, Dallas Burn, and Colorado Rapids of MLS, Charleston Battery, Portland Timbers, and Seattle Sounders of USL, and numerous teams of the USISL.
