The Road Behind, Home is Ahead:
Last Saturday, FC Tucson wrapped up a very long 6 match road trip where the club traveled over 15,000 miles. Draws against Lansing, Chattanooga, North Texas, and Tormenta, along with an important win against Greenville, has FC Tucson sitting at 7th on the table with 25 points.
Those 7 points on the road are very important to a FC Tucson team that had previously lost all but 2 of their 7 away matches this season, both wins coming against Orlando City B.
The fight for the 3rd and 4th playoff spots is going to be intense as the season hits the home stretch. After 20 matches, FC Tucson currently sit just 6 points out of 3rd place in a crowded mid-table:
Tormenta SC – 31pts
Chattanooga Red Wolves – 31pts*
Greenville Triumph – 30pts
Forward Madison – 29pts*
FC Tucson – 25pts
Toronto FC II – 24 pts
*Played 21 matches
Out of the remaining 8 matches, 7 are at home. This bodes well for FC Tucson’s playoff chances, at home they have a strong 3-3-1 record.
The upcoming matches are:
Orlando City B – 8/24
Chattanooga Red Wolves – 8/30
Lansing Ignite – 9/6
@ Greenville Triumph – 9/13
Richmond Kickers – 9/21
Greenville Triumph – 9/24
Forward Madison – 9/27
North Texas SC – 10/4
Against these teams in previous matchups, the club has a 5-5-4 record.
