Coming off the heels of a 1-1 draw last Saturday in the season opener at Orange County SC, Phoenix Rising returns to the pitch Saturday night at home in front of an expected sellout crowd to face rival Oklahoma Energy FC.

Last game: Phoenix Rising started out on the front foot, scoring 11 minutes into the match, with Solomon Asante scoring from a cross off the foot of Billy Forbes. Phoenix Rising tried to hang but just seconds before the 90-minute mark, Orange County leveled off the foot of Alex Crognale.

League honors for Asante: Asante earned honorable mention honors on the Week 1 USL Team of the Week. It is the first honor of the season for Asante and the team.

Forbes, Jaye earn international caps: Goalkeeper Dallas Jaye and Forbes both earned call-ups this week to their respective national teams. Jaye joined Guam for friendlies Friday and Tuesday against MLS side LA Galaxy, and Forbes captained the Turks and Caicos Thursday against the Dominican Republic. Forbes was hoping to return in time for Saturday’s match.

What to look for from Phoenix Rising: Didier Drogba should be in the starting lineup for the home opener, and his positioning on the pitch will determine the formation. If Forbes can’t go, look for Alessandro Riggi to take his place on the left. We could see the introduction of Joe Farrell in central defense as well as possibly seeing James Musa making his debut.

OKC Energy scouting report: OKC Energy defeated Tulsa Roughnecks FC 1-0 to open the season last week. Francis Atuahene scored just six minutes into the match and the defense held on for the clean sheet. Kyle Hyland returns to lead a strong defensive backfield, and Juan Guzman leads a deep midfield.

2017 results: The teams split two games last year. Phoenix Rising defeated OKC 2-1 May 13 in Scottsdale, with Shaun Wright-Phillips scoring the game-winner with the last kick of the match. OKC won 3-2 on June 6. Wojciech Wojcik scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 69th minute before leaving the game late with a broken forearm.
