FCAZ’s Mexia named Player of the Week

Cesar Mexia, forward for FC Arizona, has been named NPSL National Player of the Week.  Mexia earned a hat trick in the team’s 2nd game of the season in a draw against ASC San Diego (formerly Albion SC Pros).

In a press release, FC Arizona Owner extolled the second-year player’s virtues.  “We are extremely proud of Cesar for all his leadership, hardwork and accomplishments from last year and so far this year.”

Mexia began his professional play in Mexico, and currently holds the all-time scoring record for Paradise Valley Community College.  This is the second time Mexia has been received the national honor.  The first came April 27, 2017.

In a banner week for Arizona forwards, Mexia joins Phoenix Rising FC forward Chris Cortez in garnering national attention.  Cortez was recognized as the USL Player of the Week behind a hat trick of his own.

FC Arizona, undefeated in conference play in 2017, is still finding itself in 2018 at 0-1-1.  The team faces off against the Oxnard Guererros tonight, March 31, at 7pm.  The game will be played at John D. Riggs Stadium at Mesa Community College.  Tickets are general admission and are available at the gate for $12 ($5 for children).  Kids are encouraged to wear their local rec or club jerseys.
