PHOENIX RISING LAST MATCH: Coming of its most lopsided loss of the season, a 4-0 loss to Fresno FC, Phoenix Rising came out against Seattle Sounders FC 2 with total control of the game early. It was a first half goal by Chris Cortez, his team leading ninth of the season, followed by some strong defensive play to give Phoenix the 1-0 win and earning Carl Woszczynski his eighth clean sheet of the season, leaving him just one behind the league leaders at nine.

REAL MONARCHS REPORT: Real Monarchs come into the match off the heels of a 4-2 loss at San Antonio FC on July 21. An own goal by Real Monarchs’ Michale Gallagher got things started for San Antonio, who also got goals from Charlie Ward, Omar Gordon and Ever Guzman. Sebastian Velasquez scored a pair of goals for Real Monarchs, his fifth and team-tying leading sixth of the season. Velasquez is tied with Chandler Hoffman for the team lead. Kalen Ryden has four goals on the season. Maikel Chang leads the team in assists with six, and Justin Portillo has four on the year. Jake Leeker and Connor Sparrow have seen the bulk of the time in net for the Monarchs, with Leeker allowing eight goals in nine matches and Sparrow has allowed five in seven matches. Leeker was in net in the San Antonio match. The Monarchs are 7-0-1 in their new facility, Zions Bank Stadium, and have only allowed two goals in those eight matches.
