PHOENIX RISING LAST MATCH: After being held scoreless for 65 minutes, a red card allowed Phoenix to open the floodgates in their 2nd consecutive 4-0 win, this time against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Gladson Awako tapped in a deflected save just two minutes after the red card was shown. Joe Farrell, Chris Cortez, and Kevaughn Frater followed up with goals of their own and Phoenix at that moment moved into 2nd place in the Western Conference on goal differential over Orange County SC.

Team News:

Phoenix added some reinforcements for the stretch run yesterday, acquiring Tristan Blackmon and Josh Perez from Los Angeles FC. Blackmon will be familiar to Phoenix Rising fans, having already spent time in Phoenix.  Josh Perez is a winger recently acquired by Los Angeles FC. The 20-year-old started his professional career in Italy, playing for ACF Fiorentina. Perez has also represented the United States at the U-17, U-19, and U-20 levels. Both loans are for the rest of the year but LAFC does have the right to recall Blackmon, Perez, and Brewer Jr. at any time.

Shaft Brewer Jr. was called up to the United States U-20 National Team for their round-robin tournament this weekend and will miss the Rio Grande and San Antonio FC matches.

Dallas Jaye and Kevon Lambert were called up to their respective national teams, Guam and Jamaica, and both will miss the RGV and San Antonio FC matches. Dallas Jaye started for Guam in their 4-0 over the Northern Mariana Islands. Jamaica has two matches scheduled in this window, a friendly on Friday vs. Ecuador and a CONCACAF Nations qualifier vs. the Cayman Islands.

Doueugui Mala will be eligible, having served his red card suspension.

Rio Grande Valley FC Toros Report:  While the season has not gone as planned this year, Rio Grande Valley is still in a position to play spoiler. Last week, Rio Grande was able to find their first road win of the season, a 2-0 upset of Orange County SC, while also fighting for a draw away to Los Dos. Jesus Enriquez leads the team with 5 goals on the season while loanee Carlos Small has scored 2 goals on 16 shots in just 7 matches since he joined the team.

LAST MEETING: The two teams drew 0-0 the last time they met at the end of June in Texas. Neither team created too much of a threat to score although Gladson Awako had two great scoring chances in the second half.
