Flemings Receives First USL Honor of 2019

Midfielder Junior Flemings was announced as an honorable mention to the Week 1 USL Championship Team of the Week.

Fleming scored the first goal of the 2019 season for Phoenix Rising FC and punctuated his performance with an assist across the face of goal that met with the foot of striker Adam Jahn. Flemings also had a near 90% pass accuracy.

Fleming’s contributions were recognized when he was named Man of the Match as well as garnering the highest Firebird Soccer player rating.

The 23 year-old Jamaican’s performance came on the same field of the player he replaced on the field and in jersey number, Billy Forbes. Phoenix’s new #7 has spent time with New York Red Bulls II (52 apps) and the Tampa Bay Rowdies (26 apps) before joining Phoenix Rising last offseason, and is a teammate of midfielder Kevon Lambert on the Jamaican National Team.

Flemings is likely to continue in his starting role, rotating off with fellow Jamaican Jason Johnson, who also scored in the 3-3 draw against San Antonio on this weekend.

Phoenix Rising FC faces New Mexico United on Saturday March 16 at Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex. Kickoff at 7:30. For tickets, visit phxrisingfc.com.
