Coming on the heels of its worst defeat of the season, Phoenix Rising returns home to take on Seattle Sounders FC 2, a team that sits at the bottom of the Western Conference table with just three wins and 11 points on the season.

WOSZCZYNSKI WINS MIDSEASON AWARD: Fans of the USL voted goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski as the midseason USL Goalkeeper of the Year. Woszczynski earned 36 percent of the fan vote over second place Matt Pickens of Nashville FC with 26 percent. Woszcczynski had an 81.13 save percentage and a record seven shutouts and 43 saves.

ASANTE FINISHES SECOND IN MVP FAN VOTING: Midfielder Solomon Asante finished second the fan voting for USL Most Valuable Player. FC Cincinnati’s Emmanuel Ledesma was the clear runaway winner with 55 percent, and Asante finished second with 21 percent. Asante has six goals, third on the club, and six assists, the team leader, on the season.

SEATTLE REPORT: June 10 was the last time Seattle tasted victory, a 2-1 win over Oklahoma Energy City FC. They have lost five matches in a row since then, including a 2-0 lost July 14 against Real Monarchs SLC. Seattle has not won an away match this season, going 0-6-2 on the season.
